When you buy or sell a property, you need to have a conveyancer. The conveyancer will deal with the legal side of buying and selling properties, carrying out all the legal administration so that the property can change hands as it should. It is a specialist skill, and a good conveyancer is invaluable.
When you use an estate agent, they will usually have a conveyancer they work with. This is fine if you want to use them and are happy with their experience and prices. However, you shouldn’t feel obliged to work with the conveyancer the estate agent recommends. The conveyancer will usually pay the estate agent a fee to work with them, so the relationship benefits them both. Do your own research and find a conveyancer you are happy and comfortable with, especially if the property sale is going to be more complex. You may need to pay more for a good conveyancer, but it will be money well spent.
